New Google IPD authentication FAQ
Up-to-date versions of Thunderbird, Outlook and all email clients we support can use OAuth. If you use Outlook 2019 or older, you will need to update or switch to Thunderbird. If you use Thunderbird, make sure your client is updated.
This change won't affect Thunderbird, Outlook, etc., and no settings should need to be changed. The only difference is that when using OAuth2 and Google decides that Thunderbird needs to reauthorize (login again) it will pop up the SIL Staff sign-in (IdP) screen instead of the Google login screen.
We are making this change because a vast majority of our helpdesk tickets come from users with multiple sets of credentials, accidentally mixing up Google, IdP, SIL and Wycliffe authentication methods. Consolidating SIL logins simplifies the process and significantly improves account security.
Additionally, as Wycliffe USA and SIL have fewer shared services, people will be unable to access SIL systems with Wycliffe USA credentials. This may not apply to you, but it's a reality for many.
In reality, this won't impact you very much. You probably only re-authenticate to Google once a month, and I don't anticipate that changing - you'll just provide different login information.

IDP 2SV — 2 step verification problems
Go to https://sil-pw.iidp.net to start logging in to the profile page.
When it asks you for the 2-step verification (2SV) code, click the MORE OPTIONS button and then click I need help.
On the next screen select your supervisor or you can select an admin you know, if one is listed listed there. Then click the SEND CODE button to have the code sent.
When you receive the code you can finish the login and you should be at the profile page where you can add other 2SV methods and get another 10 codes. You can add this account to an authenticator app on your phone so your phone can generate a code.
Go to https://sil-pw.iidp.net/#/profile and click manage my profile at the bottom Right
Can't log in
Go to the "Username" page for help.
Go to the IDP login page, https://sil-pw.iidp.net/#/ and log in
In the"Password" tile, click "CHANGE"
enter a new password in the box
Click continue
Confirm your new password the box
Click continue
Note that the new password has been saved
Click continue
You will be taken to the alternate address set up page described below.
By updating your identity profile information.
Click the Manage my profile and log in.
Click Change in the Password Recovery tile.
You will be taken to a “What if you forget your password” page where you can enter multiple Recovery addresses.
Click the Forgot Password
Enter your email address.
Click' SEND ME A LINK'
A password reset email will be sent to your main work email address (usually first_last@sil.org) and to all verified password recovery addresses. However, for enhanced security, no email addresses will be displayed on the screen.

On the 2SV page, click “More Options” in the lower Left
Click “I need Help:
You can send a 2-step verification code to a recovery contact. Choose your Supervisor or an Administrator who knows you or is in your time zone.
If you tried to log in to a Functional Google account that doen’t use the IdP, and you get the error “Your sign-in settings don't meet your organization's 2-step verification policy” You will need to Contact us.
